Hollington Friendship Group

This monthly club meets at Hollington Village Hall on a Thursday at 2.00 p.m. The club is open to everyone and is an opportunity for people to meet and catch up over a cuppa. Guest speakers at some gatherings. Members are welcome to bring along photos or items of interest to share with the group.

Stramshall Warm Spaces Coffee Morning

This is a weekly coffee morning, held in Stramshall Village Hall every Thursday morning 11.30am – 1pm. Stramshall Village Hall, Vicarage Drive, Stramshall, ST14 5DL

Tuesday Club

This social group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Denstone Village Hall at 2.30 p.m. The group is open to all. There is a small charge of £3 to attend. Craftea Club, Rocester

This is run at St Michael’s Church, Rocester on Mondays 12.30 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. Craftea provides opportunities for individuals to make new friends, learn new skills and enjoy conversation and a cup of tea.

Rocester Men’s Shed

This group is run from St Michael’s Church every Wednesday from 10.00 a.m. and is open to all men. The Men’s Shed is a place for men to meet, make new friends and socialise; and to work together (perhaps to the benefit of the local community) and share a cup of tea.

CARELINE

Based in Ashbourne, Careline is a telephone befriending service for people living in this area. A team of volunteers telephone local people who need someone to talk.
The service takes self-referrals, and referrals from family, friends, neighbours, other agencies and GPs

Knit & Natter at Uttoxeter Library

This social craft group is open to all adults and is held at Uttoxeter Library on Mondays at 2.30 p.m. Members bring their own knitting. All abilities welcome. Sessions are free.

Baby Bounce & Rhyme Time

Based at Uttoxeter Library, this drop-in group is held on Thursday afternoons 2.00 p.m. – 2.30 p.m. and Friday mornings 10.00 a.m. – 10.30 a.m. Songs and nursery rhymes suitable for babies, pre-school children accompanied by parents/carer. Sessions are free.

Story Time

For toddlers and their parents/carer, this group is held at Uttoxeter Library on Wednesday mornings at 9.30 a.m. – approx. 10.15. Story time followed by craft. For a place at the session, please book in advance. Sessions are free.

Warhammer Gaming Club

This is held at Uttoxeter Library on alternate Saturdays 1.30 p.m. –3.30 p.m. Open to all. Young people age 14 years + can attend alone. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult. Age UK – Staffordshire

This is the largest voluntary sector provider for older people in Staffordshire and has been working in the local community to help older people for over 40 years. Services include Day Opportunities (activities and support for various complex needs, including dementia and physical disabilities), companionship and Help at Home (services to help older people enjoy living independently in their own home) and exercise classes and activities.

Autism Pyramid Group

Set up by parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated traits and conditions, it organises events in Staffordshire including Stay & Play sessions, coffee mornings for parents and social events. Monthly Stay & Play sessions held at Winifred House Centre at 37 Carter Street, Uttoxeter on Saturdays 1.30 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. The group is open to both anyone with an ASD diagnosis and for anyone beginning the assessment process. Online support provided by other parents/carers via the closed Facebook Group and page. The best way to make contact with the group is via its Facebook Group or via Facebook Messenger. Re-Engage Befriending & Social Groups

Re-Engage tackles acute loneliness and isolation experienced by older people, over 75 years, who live alone with limited family support.
It offers a telephone buddying system between trained volunteers and older people called `Call Companions’ whereby a call companion will call the same older person between 2 – 4 times a month at a mutually agreed time for an informal chat. Calls will last for around 30 minutes. Those who are interested in taking part must:
• Be 75 or older
• Live alone or in sheltered housing, often with little or no contact with
family or friends
• Must be able to hear well enough to engage in a telephone
conversation

The Carers Association (CASS)

The Carers Association provides free information, support and advice to unpaid carers.
It also offers a telephone befriending service run by a small group of dedicated volunteers who contact vulnerable, isolated and lonely carers by telephone on a regular basis to provide friendship and reassurance. The service can be put in place indefinitely or for just a short time.
Advice line is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10.00a.m. – 4.00 p.m.

Food Bank – The Heath Community Centre, Uttoxeter runs the Helping Hands Community Cupboard, https://en-gb.facebook.com/uttheath/ – if you visit the Facebook page you will find lots of details about the Food Bank, with food bags and activity packs on offer free to residents. Cheadle and District Food bank is run from Guild Hall, Tape street, Cheadle,ST10 1BG and can be contacted by calling 07902 835158, pm@cheadledistrict.foodbank.org.uk or visit the website http://cheadledistrict.foodbank.org.uk/. They are open Wednesday 9.30am – 11.30am and Friday 1.30pm – 3pm. Remember you need a food voucher to get food from them, so ensure you have been referred to get the voucher, visit the website to get registered.
